Character of Prophet Muhammad And Truth behind "Love and Brotherhood Verses of Quran"

As long as there are very few Muslims in a country, they talk about love and brotherhood, but when Islam becomes a little powerful they become very aggressive, If you want to know about that how Islam works? then you should need to understand the character of Prophet Muhammad,

When Muhmmad was still weak with few followers, he was courteous, attentive, compassionate, flexible, helpful and even feigned humility. There is a sharp contrast between the Quranic verses written during this period and those written in Medina when he became powerful. In Medina, he became demanding, tyrannical, willful, aggressive, and exploitative. There he raided villages and towns and after killing unarmed men and looting them, demanded the survivors to submit to him, pay jizyah, or face death.

The following are a few examples of the Meccan verses:

 Quran 73:10 

And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance.

— Saheeh International

Quran 109 : 6 

For you is your religion, and for me is my religion."

— Saheeh International

Quran 20 : 130 

So be patient over what they say and exalt [Allāh] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied.

— Saheeh International

Quran 50 : 39 

So be patient, [O Muḥammad], over what they say and exalt [Allāh] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting,

— Saheeh International

Quran 50 : 45  

We are most knowing of what they say, and you are not over them a tyrant. But remind by the Qur’ān whoever fears My threat.

— Saheeh International

Quran 7 : 199 

Do they have feet by which they walk? Or do they have hands by which they strike? Or do they have eyes by which they see? Or do they have ears by which they hear? Say, [O Muḥammad], "Call your 'partners' and then conspire against me and give me no respite.

— Saheeh International

Quran 15 : 85 

Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of them [i.e., the disbelievers], and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing [i.e., show kindness] to the believers.

— Saheeh International

Quran 45 : 14 

Say, [O Muḥammad], to those who have believed that they [should] forgive those who expect not the days of Allāh [i.e., of His retribution] so that He may recompense a people1 for what they used to earn.

— Saheeh International

Quran 2 : 62 

Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans [before Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] - those [among them] who believed in Allāh and the Last Day and did righteousness - will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve1.

— Saheeh International

Quran 29 : 46 

And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.

— Saheeh International

Compare the above to verses written in Medina, after he became powerful.

Quran 9 :123 

O you who have believed, fight against those adjacent to you of the disbelievers and let them find in you harshness. And know that Allāh is with the righteous.

— Saheeh International

Quran 8 : 12 

[Remember] when your Lord inspired to the angels, "I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip."

— Saheeh International

Quran 3  : 85 

And whoever desires other than Islām as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.

— Saheeh International 

Quran 9 : 5  

And when the inviolable months1 have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakāh, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

— Saheeh International

Quran 2 : 191

Fight in the way of Allāh those who fight against you but do not transgress. Indeed, Allāh does not like transgressors.

— Saheeh International

Quran 8 : 39 

And fight against them until there is no fitnah and [until] the religion [i.e., worship], all of it, is for Allāh. And if they cease - then indeed, Allāh is Seeing of what they do.

— Saheeh International

Quran 9 : 14 

Fight them; Allāh will punish them by your hands and will disgrace them and give you victory over them and satisfy the breasts [i.e., desires] of a believing people

— Saheeh International

Quran 9 : 66 

Make no excuse; you have disbelieved [i.e., rejected faith] after your belief. If We pardon one faction of you - We will punish another faction because they were criminals.

— Saheeh International

Quran 9 : 28 

O you who have believed, indeed the polytheists are unclean, so let them not approach al-Masjid al-Ḥarām after this, their [final] year. And if you fear privation, Allāh will enrich you from His bounty if He wills. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing and Wise.

— Saheeh International

Quran 9 : 29 

Fight against those who do not believe in Allāh or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allāh and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth [i.e., Islām] from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah1 willingly while they are humbled.

— Saheeh International

This much should suffice as evidence that Muhammad changed drastically after he came to power. The gentle, attentive, compassionate, and empathic preacher was transformed into a tyrannical, ruthless, and willful despot.
